Project profile
Bardolph Gardens in Glen Iris transforms an underused rear site into two sustainable single-storey dwellings. With recycled brick façades and roof forms echoing neighbouring bungalows, the design blends contemporary character with the streetscape. Each home is entered via a courtyard or garden, with interiors that are light-filled, warm, and connected to greenery. North-facing glazing, roof pitches, and steel awnings optimise natural light and solar gain, while brick screens create private courtyards. Built with a humble, robust palette for longevity, both dwellings achieve an 8-star rating and operate fossil fuel–free through solar PV and heat pump systems.
